Finger-lickin' good.. Finger found in Lawson's Rice

TOKYO - After buying a "Bibimbap" Korean rice ball at a local Lawsons convenience in Northern Japan, a woman took a bite of the snack and ended up spitting out a chunck of a human finger. The woman apparently tasted something strange and discarded the mouthfull to find the half inch fingertip according to Lawasons's Takashi Fujii.

The severed appendage was traced by police to a worker at Nihon Fresh Delica, the company that makes bentos for Lawsons. He says he accidentally cut his finger while making the snack (really?).

The woman immediately went to a doctor, who verified the appendage as a human finger.

Fujii offered these words, "This sort of thing will not happen again, we will make sure."

Uh, yeah make sure "that sort of thing" doesn't happen again, would you please. What exactly does "that sort of thing" mean anyway? Would serving horse meat in the bentos consist of "that sort of thing," or would that be allowed Mr. Lawson?

While we are on the topic, didn't the guy at Nihon Fresh tell his boss or someone he cut off part of his finger and it may have gone into the food? Or did they keep it quiet hoping nobody would realize? That seems to be the norm here, like Yukijirushi Snow Brand Milk and others. Once found out, the traditional "Gomennasai, Moushiwakenai" but never any real steps to solve the problem.

Can you imagine the legal suit this would bring back home? I guess in Japan, where it is normal to eat bleeding flesh (sushi, sashimi), this kind of thing just passes by....

Count me out as one of the guys who will be ordering some bibimbap in the near future. Come to think of it, I wouldn't order one anyway.... I prefer some "calpiss" or "nude" rather than "humanflesh"....Maybe that will be the next big brand here?
