Wanko-men Doggie Ramen
Monday, July 01 2002, 10:33
Tokyo - Recently a new "kind" of Ramen has been released. "Wanko-men," a play on words from the Japanese "wanko" which is slang for "doggie," is now on the market!
Ramen Santoka, before releasing the ramen for dogs, first had to solve the problem of human ramen being to salty.
"Dogs want to be like their masters," says the President of the ramen company, Ramen Satoka.
To test the ramen, various dogs who had never had it before apparently scarfed it down in no time flat. Leading us to believe it is palatable for dogs.

OK, so Japan has robot dogs, TV pets, Tamagochi electronic pets, and now ramen for dogs...
Is it me, or this this society the loneliest bunch of people in the world?
To be honest, I don't think this wonderful invention is the product of "dogs have a desire to eat the same foods as their masters" so much as it is "Japanese pet owners have a strange desire to model their pets after themselves."
If you really want your dog to be like you, why don't you shave it bald and put make-up on it? Or give it breast implants? Or better yet how about a hair removal treatment (datsu mou)? I would pay money to see that.
Wonder bras for dogs, they could call them "Wanko-bras"

now you boys cut that out or i'll give you all a licking that your "raw hide" will remind you of for the rest of your ride -- by the way, as a "gore-me" myself, wait i cannot to say that: there was "wanko soba" in nambu region (iwate now) even before i was born; it entails people wolfing down oodles ("owan" -- the noodle bowl -- after "owan") of soba noodles. so there!

possibly udon is rolled... but, hey mac (a ronin you ain't), chop-chop or i'll have your meatballs hanging off the christmas tree -- i don't want to miss THE MOVIE to find out all about oriental noodles, but i have to go look for that rowdy clint in spaghetti-land beforehand, so can't be too pokey...

whoa doggie whoa! nufsed! who's in charge of this? all i can say about the recent comments: (chop) soo-EEE[suey]! can't we act more like cattlemen here? {say, that's an idea! salty ramen on a stick - better arrange for my submarine patent there... doggone it, someone else has already come up with it!!!}

sanuki |

doggone it, y'all go on without me! i done! it's cloying! i'm gonna become one of those "lay" [as in "ordinary"] men, a lot cooler... ugh, i surfeit!!! by the way, "wishbone" paul, wanko soba is from morioka which ain't "nambu"! cf.
http://travel.japan-tohoku.com/cgi-bin/detail.cgi?id=080008&country=en Morioka's <other> famous local dish is "wanko-soba," which is eaten in a very interesting way. As soon as you finish a bite-size portion of soba in a lacquered bowl, a server calls out and tosses the next portion into your empty bowl. Once you become full, you announced that you've finished by placing the lid back on the bowl. But remember, it isn't proper to do so when there are still noodles left in your bowl. This style of eating, unique to the region, was developed long ago in order to serve many customers at once.
So - bah! U don make a big mistake!
