Skin color is no problem at day nursery

Wednesday, June 26 2002, 13:05

FUKUOKA - In this northern Kyushu city on the east side, there is a day care nursery for kids that claims 25% of the children there are not Japanese. They also claim that skin color of the foreign kids is not a problem.

The Kashiihama Nursery is located near a dorm for foreign students of Kyushu University in Fukuoka, hence the high number of non-japanese kids in the nursery of 207 kids, 52 foreign. (Zone81.com)

Caesar's Commentary

Glad to hear that you are having no "problems" with the foreign kids. How backwards is a society where a nothing story like this makes the news?

Were they "expecting" problems, and when none came that is news? Wake up Japan, 25% of kids not being Japanese in one school is not news. "Get one of these kids to say something in English!" "We are so international!"
