Gang rape ordered as punishment for family

Meerwala, Pakistan - After her 11-year-old brother was seen unchaperoned with a girl from a different village, a 14 yea-old girl was senteced to be gang raped by the 4 tribal judges who found her guilty. The punishment was said to have been given to purposely shame her family.
As the 4 member of the village counsil had their ways with the teenager, others from the village stood and listened outside the mud hut in amusement.
"I touched their feet. I cried. I said I taught the holy Koran to their children in the village, therefore don't punish me for a crime I did not commit. But they tore off my clothes and raped me one by one." she said afterwards.
While saying this, her mother, Allah Bachai, was sobbing from their hime in Meerwala village in Punjab province.
Punjab's deputy inspector Asef Hayyat said people at the village's police station have been suspended as a result of this, and relatives of the suspects have been taken into custody to try to reel in the escaped culprits.
This tribal justice apparently has been tradition in Pakistan, but is outlawed by the central government.
The rape has fured rights activist groups, who claim Pakistan is guilty on numerous accounts cancerning crimes against women.
The tribe of the girl who was walking with the boy, The Mastoi tribe, is considered slighlt upper class compared to the boy's Gujar tribe. The Mastoi tribe brought about the charges and demanded the rape punishment. The boy's mother went so far as to offer the boy to the Mastoi tribe in marriage. "I told the tribal jury that my son is ready to marry the girl if they think she had been molested," Farid said. "But Mastoi tribesmen rejected this proposal, saying how could they give their daughter to me, a low-caste tribal."
The Mastoi girl's uncle, Mohammed Ramzan, was among the men on the tribal council who got a free crack at the 14-year old girl.
